
In 1999, following the initiative of five senior students from the University of Latvia Faculty of Law, the first national-level moot court competition in Latvia was held. Although the first competition focused on civil law issues, over time, the organizers shifted their focus to constitutional law matters. The competition was later named after Professor Kārlis Dišlers, and the European Law Students’ Association Latvia (ELSA Latvia) took on the role of its permanent organizer.
Civil law made a comeback in 2009, when ELSA Latvia organized the first moot court competition in civil law. These competitions continued until 2016.
Recognizing that a national-level moot court in civil law was missing from the legal education landscape, in 2018, the University of Latvia Faculty of Law, in collaboration with leading Latvian law firms, the Supreme Court, and the academic society "Austrums", invited students to once again compete in civil law. This new national-level competition was named after Professor Konstantīns Čakste.
On April 13, the fifth Professor Konstantīns Čakste Civil Law Moot Court concluded with its final round held at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia. After more than two hours of argumentation, the victory was claimed by the team "Book of Čakste", consisting of University of Latvia Faculty of Law second-year Bachelor's students Katrīna Anna Rempe, Elēna Sidorčika, and Leons Podbrezskis.
The title of Best Oralist among Bachelor's students was awarded to Baiba Kūle from the team "Labas ticības nesējas". Meanwhile, the award for Best Written Submission was given to the team "Vidusmēra advokāti" (Agate Sloboda, Arnolds Gudkovs, and Elizabete Feierabende).
On April 15, 2023, the annual Professor Konstantīns Čakste Civil Law Moot Court concluded with its final round held at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia.
The winning team was "Pāvila Peniķa advokātu birojs", consisting of University of Latvia Faculty of Law (JF) Bachelor's students Marta Vīksna, Nikola Terēze Zvirbule, and Laura Ivonna Šteinberga.
The title of Best Oralist among Bachelor's students was awarded to Roberts Gusts from the team "Kriptomafija" (LU JF), while among Master's students, the award went to Kristers Pētersons from the team "Vienā Laivā" (LU JF).
According to the organizers, the award for Best Written Submission was given to the team "Kriptomafija" (Gustavs Aleksandrs Klucis, Roberts Gusts, and Ksenija Levočkina – LU JF).
The winning team in the final round was "Pavisam privāti", consisting of University of Latvia Faculty of Law (JF) Bachelor's program in Law students Katrīna Annija Ročāne, Sintija Platā, and Gints Osis.
The title of Best Oralist among Bachelor's students was awarded to Salvis Kārklis from the team "Trust me, I’m a lawyer" (LU JF), while among Master's students, the award went to Elvis Grinbergs from the team "Vecie intriganti" (LU JF).
A total of 16 teams from Daugavpils University, the University of Latvia (LU), the Riga Graduate School of Law, and Riga Stradiņš University applied for the first-ever Professor Konstantīns Čakste Civil Law Moot Court Competition.
The winning team was "Pirmstiesas spriedums", consisting of University of Latvia Faculty of Law students Anna Patrīcija Mālere, Gunvaldis Leitens, and Ieva Šņepste.
The title of Best Oralist among Bachelor's students was awarded to Kristers Losāns (LU), while among Master's students, the award went to Sabīne Smilts (LU).
According to the organizers, the award for Best Written Submission was given to the team of Dāvids Lipšens and Toms Kārlis Broks.

In 2016, the moot court competition was conducted exclusively in written format, with all awarded places going to students from the University of Latvia Faculty of Law.
According to the judges' evaluation, the Best Written Submission was submitted by the University of Latvia team "Dark Souls", consisting of Kristens Vorslavs, Kristaps Zaķis, and Ēriks Krēsliņš.
From 2009 to 2016, the civil law moot court competition was organized by ELSA Latvia.
In the 2014 Moot Court Competition, the winners were University of Latvia Faculty of Law students Jānis Sarāns and Edijs Brants, who also submitted the Best Written Submission of the competition. The title of Best Oralist was awarded to Edijs Brants.

In the 2013 Moot Court Competition, the winners were University of Latvia Faculty of Law students Liene Ābola, Krista Bērziņa, and Madara Locāne, who also submitted the Best Written Submission of the competition. The team’s coach was Agris Repšs, a partner at the law firm ZAB "Sorainen" and a sworn attorney.

In the 2012 Moot Court Competition, the winners were University of Latvia Faculty of Law students Andrejs Stupins, Viesturs Lācis, and Elīna Semeņuka.
The award for the Best Written Submission was given to Līva Kalniņa, Baiba Skara, and Daina Golubovska, all representing the University of Latvia.
The Patron of the Moot Court was Agris Bitāns, a lecturer at the University of Latvia Faculty of Law and the managing partner at the law firm ZAB "Eversheds Bitāns".
The moot problem was created by Lauris Buls, a doctoral student at the University of Latvia Faculty of Law.
