Among the laureates was Professor Daiga Rezevska from the Faculty of Law at the University of Latvia (UL) for her book “General Principles of Law: Natural Rights, Legal Methods, and System Principles”, published by the prestigious Brill|Nijhoff publishing house.
Upon receiving the award, Professor Rezevska expressed her gratitude to her family, the Department of Legal Theory and History at the UL Faculty of Law, as well as to the Latvian Academy of Sciences and her colleagues for their support in the research and publication process.
In his speech, LAS President Ivars Kalviņš emphasized the high level of achievements by Latvian scientists, highlighting particularly goal-oriented and interdisciplinary research projects whose results have been successfully applied in practice.
About the Competition
To further promote Latvia’s scientific achievements, the Latvian Academy of Sciences began compiling and evaluating accomplishments in all scientific fields in 2002. The 2024 competition marked its 23rd edition. Since 2011, the LAS has held a ceremonial event to honor the laureates, which has become one of the most significant annual events in Latvia’s scientific community.
