• Leading partner, sworn advocate in law firm “Jāņa Kārkliņa zvērinātu advokātu birojs”.
• State award: Badge of Honor of Justice System (II class).
• State award – decoration „For contribution in the development of the Enterprise register of the Republic of Latvia”.
• Member of the bar examination committee of the Latvian Council of Sworn Advocates.
• Member of the examination commission for the applicant for the post of sworn notary.
• Member of Advisory Board of Enterprise Register of the Republic of Latvia.
• Latvian Academy of Sciences expert on law issues.
• Regularly conducts research on behalf of the European Commission on the process and progress of the implementation of directives in Latvia.
• Participated as a researcher in several scientific projects of the Latvian Science Council. He has prepared two summaries of case law by order of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia:
• "Court practice in damage compensation cases; Comparison of European Union law and case law. Money laundering. The field of civil rights";
• "Court practice in cases of loss - tax payment – recovery. Tax law. The field of civil rights".
